Ramshackle Town

I've started to move onto bigger and more important design areas. Namely, the survivor camp itself. The player-character lives in a storage room to the side of the main living area, so I wanted to reveal the struggle for survival to the player as early on as possible...

I decided that the underground station would've become almost like a small town - or village, where the inhabitants built up a living out of the scrap, debris and rubble they collected, so it made sense to have rusted iron girders supporting precarious sheets of chipboard stacked with bedding. Objects scattered around, like the collapsible beds, ammo crates and Jerry cans, were salvaged from the military, which will be a more important story point later in the game.

I've attached a salvo of screens to this post. There are some general wide shots of the settlement as a whole, then some more focused shots, on things like the repair shack, resting areas, beds, etc. I haven't populated the area yet, but I plan to Matinee a few sequences in when I get the chance.
